Shri Vethathiri Maharishi was born in 1911 in the village of Guduvancheri, 30 km south of Chennai, India, into an indigent weaver’s family. From his youth he was driven by the desire for knowledge and in particular strove to find answers to three questions:
The Village Service Project – a first of its Kind in India, to transform the lives of the Villagers based on Traditional Indian Yoga based lifestyle, is a vital body of WCSC, focused on training and rural empowerment.
If, you are willing to contribute something back to the society or communities, you can consider adopting a village for transformation under WCSC-VSP.
Helps to enhance the Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Social Health of the rural population by regular practice of Yoga.
Tree Planting activities in villages – to plant one tree for every house in the adopted village. WCSC- SKY volunteers guide/help people in various aspects of environment issues.
Health screening camp- to identify chronic diseases like diabetes, High blood pressure, ischemic heart disease, obesity, anemia etc. through health tests.
In the VSP project, group counselling and personal counselling is provided by a professional counselorsfor their personal or family issues.
Guidance and counselling are important for children and schools have a major role in bringing the best in children.
Awareness about the problem and provide support to maintain their Health. Alcohol and drug abuse contributes to illness and premature deaths in a big way.
VSP gives special attention to rural women empowerment’s, especially in health, education, nutrition programs for pregnancy, financial management and improve entrepreneurial skills.
